NORWOOD CACHET - MIKE KLEINTANK

This Norwood Cachet was created by Mike Kleintank from Cincinnati OH and is number ten of fifteen.  It holds a special place in my heart.  Except for the few I made myself, this was the very first cachet I acquired for my collection.  It features a line drawing of a woman getting a mammogram.

HOBBY LINK CACHET - KEVIN TRACY

This nice Hobby Link Cachet was created by Kevin Tracy from Boulder CO and is number thirty-eight of fifty.  The cachet pictures a woman baring her shoulder.  I like to think that she is preparing herself for a healthful session of breast-self-examination.

BGC CACHET - GERRY LEVISS

This combination BGC Cachet was created by Gerry Leviss from East Brunswick NJ and is unnumbered.  It features a pink ribbon and the logo's of eight different breast cancer organizations.  You can find the websites of most of these organizations by going to my LINKS page.

DESERT CACHETS - TOM LACY

....

These two scientific style Desert Cachets were created by Tom Lacy from El Paso TX.  The first cover is number ten of ten and the second cover is number nineteen of twenty-five.

The only real difference between the two cachets is the graph-like background.  The first cover has it, the second one doesn't.  I like the understated imagery of these instruments for scientific research.  They remind me of all the scientists working so hard behind the scenes to find a cure for this horrible affliction.

THEROME CACHET - TOM PELUSO

This beautiful Therome Cachet was created by Tom Peluso from West Hempstead NY and is number five of thirty.  The beautiful images of the faces on this flag bring to my mind all the people affected by this horrible disease.  Breast Cancer is very devastating, not only to the patient, but also to her friends and family.

FINE DESIGN CACHET - HENRY and NOELLE SMITH

This beautiful Fine Design Cachet (FDC) was created by Henry and Noelle Smith from Ann Arbor MI and is number eight of thirty.  It features a popular classic pinup girl image.  This cover could be considered a little too explicit for some, however, I'm surprised that I haven't found any others more explicit than this one.  Most cachetmakers have used restraint when picturing nude women in their cachets for this issue.

JOE RYAN

This interesting cachet was created by Joe Ryan from Waukesha WI and is number thirty-one of forty-eight.  Joe won several Planty Awards when he first began creating his cachets, however I've been told that he is no longer active in the hobby.

VIA CACHET - FLORENCE VILLASENOR

This Via Cachet was created by Florence Villasenor from West Covina CA and is number seventy-one of seventy-five.  The cachet honors Marie Curie, who pioneered the use of radioactivity for medical usage.  Without her work, mammograms would be impossible today.  Marie Curie gave us the tools that we continue to use against cancer.

RFD CACHET - DONALD MORRIS

This is a nice RFD Cachet created by Donald Morris from Beltsville MD.  It is unnumbered, but Don has told me that he usually only makes around 30 of his cachets.  It features an enlarged reproduction of the stamp with some appropriate text.

KEVIN COLTON

This beautiful cover was created by Kevin Colton from Seneca Falls NY and is number five of twelve.  Along with the wonderful main illustration, it also includes the logo for the American Cancer Society's fundraising event Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.  I want to thank Kevin for giving me this cover to add to my collection.

DMZ CACHET - DAVID ZIGON

This beautifully scientific DMZ Cachet was created by David Zigon from Harleysville PA and is number two of five.  I won it at the American First Day Cover Society's fundraising auction during Americover 99.  The cachet features the fascinating image of a woman surrounded by DNA strands and test tubes.  David told me that he used a color laser printer to create the cachet.

ERIC HUMMEL

This is an outstanding cover created by Eric Hummel from Portland OR and is number three of twenty.  The cachet was created from scans of turn of the century art work.  The four similar images across the bottom are from Alphonse Mucha's "The Seasons."  The image on the left side is from Manuel Orazi's "Loie Fuller."  I hope the detail of these pictures comes across in the scan.  It truly is a beautiful cover.

TZUZI CACHET - SUSAN HARTMAN

This nice TZUZI Cachet was created by Susan Hartman from Kalispell MT.  Although the cover is unnumbered, Susan told me that she had only created one of them.  The cachet's image is taken from the Breast Cancer Awareness stamp issued by the USPS on June 15, 1996.  Susan used software to add some special effects to the original image before printing the cachet.  The original stamp was designed by Tom Mann from Warrenton VA.

While It's not unusual to use a stamp image as a cachet, It is a little more uncommon to see a cachetmaker use the image of a stamp different than the one actually on the first day cover.  However, because of the obvious similarity in the two stamps subject matter, I think this cachet works very nicely.

GOING POSTAL CACHETS - RICH WILLIAMS

....

....

These five unusual Going Postal add-on cachets were created by Rich Williams from Shalimar FL.  I actually have two others that I don't believe are appropriate to include with this exhibit.  As you can see, Going Postal cachets are known for their irreverent humor and questionable taste.  Rich's humor is not for everyone.

The two middle cachets are for adults only.  I have blacked out the most explicit parts of these two cachets, however I want to warn you that some may still find them offensive.  Do not click on their thumbnails if you are offended by female nudity.

Drop me a line and let me know what you think about these unusual covers.  If enough people complain about their explicitness, I may choose to remove them.  I am not interested in offending anyone visiting this website.
